Supergirl is hitting theaters in just a few weeks, and with all the trailers now accounted for, DC Studios is rolling out the clips. Today we’ve got a look at a key moment in the film that features a certain very well-known character offering some payback for Milly Alcock’s Supergirl popping up in last summer’s Superman.
This adorable clip, courtesy of Comicbook.com, shows the instant Kara Zor-El arrives on Earth, carrying puppy Krypto and speaking not a word of English. Though her cousin, better known as Superman (David Corenswet), is there to excitedly greet her, he unfortunately doesn’t know the language of his home planet. (He was raised in Kansas, after all.)
That makes way for some comedy when Kara’s subtitles make wry commentary on Superman’s cheerful attempts to welcome her—not to mention his underwear-esque superhero get-up—but alas, it cuts off just as we’re seemingly about to see her powers erupt for the first time.
Superman really, really loves Earth; will Supergirl agree right away, or will her solo movie give her plenty of time to figure out her own feelings?
Hearing the spoken language of Krypton is very cool, but the real star of this clip is the dog. Adult Krypto was already cute enough; sassy baby Krypto protecting his super-mom is almost too much to take. Presumably that’ll open up a whole new merch stream for DC once Supergirl arrives in theaters on June 26.
