Samsung plays the convergence card with its new SyncMaster 173mw, an HDTV-ready (read: no HDTV tuner built-in) widescreen LCD monitor with TV tuner, composite video, s-video and component video ins, as well as dual analog and digital audio inputs and built-in speakers. The 1280 x 768 screen should make it a capable TV replacement, especially with a 500:1 contrast ratio, but the lack of published response times in the release leave it up in the air if it would be capable enough for gaming. Might look a bit goofy with all those cords running out the rear, though. Also, is that the Mac OSX default desktop wallpaper? Someone’s gonna get a two-ton Stevehammer.
