Dr Dong Kim, the surgeon who treated congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords after she was shot in the head in 2011, is currently removing a brain tumor from one of his patients. That's fairly normal. However, today, another neurosurgeon happens to live-tweeting events as they unfold. No pressure.

It's perhaps the ballsiest piece of live-tweeting ever, and it's not exactly for the faint-hearted: along the way, the surgeon will be posting images to TwitPic and videos to YouTube.

During the surgery, a two-inch window will be carved into the woman's skull to excise the growth. The first incision happened mere minutes ago, and you can now keep track of the whole event by following @houstonhospital. The surgery should last about three hours.
