Although we recently gotour first good look at the Wonder Woman film’s Amazon aesthetic, many fans were a bit disappointed at the Amazon’s fanciful, heel-clad battle gear. They’re still wearing it in these new set pictures, but hey, but now they’re definitely showing off their warrior skills!

The new pictures from the movie, which is currently filming in Italy, appear to show Steve Trevor’s arrival on the island of Themyscira,and his first encounter with Diana, Princess of the Amazons:

But, it looks like Steve and Diana aren’t alone. Not only are there more Amazons on the scene, there’s a lot of Steve’s soldier friends, too.

Qualms about the footwear aside, it’s nice to see a bit more of the general Amazonian look, including a few helmets that look rather like their classic gear from the comics. Plus, it’s cool to see such a famous first encounter from comics history being played out in live-action! Something to be excited for while you twiddle your thumbs waiting for a trailer or something.
Wonder Woman is due for release on June 23 of next year.
