A University of Buffalo trio — fronted by the Santa-meets-Wayne-Newton lookalike to the right — has invented a microwave-sized box that rids the air of deadly pathogens. The BioBlower sucks in the tainted air and quickly heats it to a balmy 400 degrees, hot enough to kill every iota of anthrax or smallpox. An obvious first app is cleaning buildings that have come under bioterrorist attack, but the Buffalo crew also envisions a miniaturized version for military backpacks. Of course, they’ve already set up their off-campus startup to peddle the BioBlower to the Feds. Got to wonder if John Ashcroft will make them change the name.
