A new Blair Witch Project is coming in 2027, which we’re definitely curious about. But no matter what that movie ends up being like, we’ll always be most partial to the 1999 original. Lionsgate understands that many horror fans feel this way and are leaning into those lost-in-the-woods-with-a-camcorder frights by releasing a new VHS edition of the film. (In case you don’t have a functional VCR in 2026, and you want a bunch of special features not included on the VHS, there’s also a Blu-ray version coming too.)
Pre-orders are open now for both versions, which release October 13. The VHS is more of a collector’s item, but what a cool thing to have on display; the “horror” video-store sticker is a nice touch. Both it and the two-disc Blu-ray set include “the filmmaker-approved revitalized original theatrical cut restored from the original Hi8 videotapes and 16mm film elements, available in the U.S. for the first time;” the Blu-rays also come with the “festival cut” and “the original 35mm theatrical exhibition release,” according to a press release.

The Blu-ray and digital special features include some new offerings as well as some holdovers from previous Blair Witch releases.

- Season of the Witch – New interviews with filmmakers & actors Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams
