The Dark Knight iTunes Extras Gets You Blu-ray Extras Without the Blu-ray

The Dark Knight has been on DVD and Blu-ray for a while now, but it finally just hit iTunes. The best part? The 31 minutes of previously Blu-ray only bonuses can be had anywhere.

If you still haven’t gotten the Blu-ray yet—because you don’t own a Blu-ray player—this is an easy way to watch the crew explain why they shot it in IMAX, what’s up with the Joker’s musical theme, the Bad-pod, the huge 18-wheeler truck flip, the hospital explosion and general methodology. To be clear, all these were present on the Blu-ray, so if you have that, you’re set. But if you’re a previous DVD owner and want to get the extras without paying $18 for a Blu-ray (plus a Blu-ray player), this is just $10 on iTunes.

I watched the features again—they’re still pretty great—but the movie itself is exactly the same as the digital copy you “get” with the Blu-ray. That is to say, good enough for mobile devices and laptops. [iTunes]

Relatively cheap

Features themselves are interesting/insightful

Nothing new if you’ve already seen the Blu-ray
