Starting next month, Japanese Wi-Fiers will be able to seamlessly hop onto Singaporean wireless LAN networks, and vice versa. Japan’s NTT DoCoMo and Singapore’s SingTel Mobile have announced a three-month trial run for a cooperative service, which’ll let international travelers roam from one network to the other free of charge. If usage is high, expect more cooperative agreements to follow — South Korea’s SK Telecom seems like a natural third partner. Let’s hope North American wireless carriers take a gosh darn hint for once and get with the border-crossing program.
