The Perfect PDA

JOEL JOHNSON

Reading time 1 minute

Rui Carmo at The Tao of Mac has a lot to say about what his hypothetical ‘perfect PDA’ would be, and while I don’t agree with ever last jot (the merit of the Maui form-factor [right], for instance,) there are a lot of really interesting points. What really came to mind for me, though, is how there seems to be a ‘personal/popular’ drive to feature development in PDAs and smartphones, while the bulk of complaints about modern PDA technology stem from a lack of focus on business workflows. It makes the feature creep that seems so desirable at first (Must have color! WiFi! Bluetooth!) a liability to getting real work done.

It’s a fascinating thought exercise, though; what’s your ‘perfect PDA?’ Send me your dream specifications, making sure to include your intentions: fun do-all uber-gadget, or down-to-business workhorse.
