Now you can immerse yourself in the organic pyrotechnics featured in newly-released concept art for The Day the Earth Stood Still, starring Keanu Reeves as alien Klaatu. The original 1950s movie was famous for its innovative concept design, all silvery curves and luminous, space-deco black-and-white. For the new film, director Scott Derrickson chose an organic look for Klaatu’s spaceship (above), which uses a mysterious substance (nanoswarms?) to show the Earthlings that the alien means business when he says that humans have to stop screwing up their planet. See the awesome destruction this globular spaceship unleashes below.
