Believe it or not, people are pretty excited for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Per Deadline and metrics tracker WaveMatrix, the trailer from earlier in June has become the second-biggest launch of all time at 590.8 million views. For reference, the first trailer in March hit a billion views in a couple of days, and this new one hit its own milestone in a week. Before then, anticipation for a new look at the film was pretty high: tickets went on sale, and the cast was traveling the globe to help build up hype.
Both Brand New Day trailers keep a lot close to the chest, but the big thing to know is Peter Parker’s life kind of sucks. With no one remembering who he is and no Avengers safety net, he’s a street-level hero still pining for his memory-wiped friends MJ and Ned. Add in a mysterious new baddie, plus the Punisher, the Hulk, and some ninjas, and it’s no surprise that going through it is messing him up in all sorts of ways.
Already, some commercials have popped up on social media teasing the film’s fights and Peter reuniting with his friends. It’s safe to say that Spider-Man: Brand New Day might end up being one of the summer’s biggest movies, if not the biggest. We’ll see just how big when it hits theaters July 31.
