With three of our new, cinematic X-Men revealed, everyone’s waiting for Marvel to do a full cast reveal. Many actors have been thrown out, but who’s really in it?
That’s the question that awaits us as D23 draws near. Ahead of the annual event starting up next week, the Hollywood Reporter dropped some tidbits in its latest Heat Vision newsletter. Along with revealing a “strong interest” for Cooper Hoffman to play Cyclops before scheduling interrupted those plans, the outlet noted Scream 7’s Asa Germann tested for that same role. The part currently seems to be Kit Connor’s, but THR teased that Germann might’ve been offered another role instead, similar to how Nicholas Hoult booked Lex Luthor after he auditioned to be both Superman and Matt Reeves’ Batman.
Speaking of tests, it was also mentioned that Wolf Man‘s Christopher Abbott and Task‘s Tom Pelphrey tested for Charles Xavier. The latter did not get the part, but THR avoids saying if this means Abbott will be our new Xavier. (One thing it did do was cast doubt on rumors of Bill Skarsgard getting the part.) And finally, the outlet touched on the Adam Driver of it all: instead of acknowledging whether he’ll play Magneto, the outlet suggested he could instead be Sebastian Shaw, previously the main villain of 2011’s X-Men: First Class played by Kevin Bacon.
Charles, Shaw, and Cyclops are the only X-characters mentioned in Heat Vision, so jury’s out on who’ll play fan-favorites like Rogue, Storm, and Beast. (And whether they’ll even be in this movie.) Assuming the next few days don’t bring us more news, we’ll likely learn more at D23 from Friday, August to Sundary, August 16. And hey, maybe we’ll even get an X-Men logo or a look at the future suits.
