Pencils are decidedly simple instruments, used for the sole purpose of writing and drawing, but applications in which we use them in our daily lives are becoming increasingly niche. What if they had an added function?

The added tools found in Trevor Duncan's Pencil Works—on display at NYC's International Contemporary Furniture Fair—include handsaws, magnifying glasses, picks and paintbruhes. These pencils still probably won't be of much use to the vast majority of us in our day-to-day lives, but it's hard to deny that the system of interchangeable parts makes for a gorgeous collection.

they are pencil attachments not really whole pencils so that wouldn't stop you using the pencils. I have seen some of them before you can or at least used to be able to buy magnifying glass pencil ends. And the compass one is not common but you can get it if you look.

Pretty good idea for a lot of lab work actually its always a pain if you are working on something to have to switch between pencil and tool and have to look away.
