What you're looking at isn't a render or merely a concept of some fanciful building that'll never actually become a reality. No, what you're looking at is an actually photograph of the new Bahrain World Trade Center, a pair of pointy skyscrapers with three propellers with 95 foot diameters between them. And this week, they activated all three turbines at the same time. Now that they're all running, they'll be providing 10-15% of the energy for both towers, which will save loads of money over the years.
Beautiful buildings, both design wise and for environmental reasons. However, it did kinda leave me with a bad feeling in my stomach seeing two "twin towers" as a trade center in the middle east. Yes, I know that Bahrain had nothing to do with 09/11. Like a mother who sees a young boy who reminds her of her deceased son, there was a certain amount of resentment and possessiveness mixed into my emotions. Glad for their new building and success. But I long for the capability of the US to finally sever foreign-oil ties with the middle east and other countries.
