Tire Tagz: Persistence of Vision for Wheels

By

Reading time 1 minute

I’m not sure how many horsepower glowing Batman logos add to a car, but I’m sure these Tire Tagz are exactly the sort of thing that will soon be provided with pastel orange Mitsubishi Eclipses right from the factory. Tire Tagz are persistence of vision clips that plug right into your wheel, spinning amber LEDs to create a static image. The company claims they’ll be legal on the roads, since they are the regulation amber color mandated for all side-mounted lights, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you get a few tickets to go along with your stares.

To their credit, the Tire Tagz look pretty well thought-out, with a locking mechanism and bundled Windows software for creating and uploading your own patterns. When they launch this month (according to their site) I’d imagine they’ll be very popular with tuners for a few months, or at least until Advance Auto Parts makes a $5 knock-off version. As for the Tire Tags price, that’s anybody’s guess—their online shop is not actually online. (Thanks, Steve!)
