Now that DIRECTV has finalized its divorce from TiVo, a new DVR is ready for prime time. The R15 DIRECTV Plus DVR will be out sometime in October and has all the good features that you’d expect and then some. It will feature a 90-minute live buffer (up from 30-minutes), a feature called “Cruise Control” that lets you view a show frame by frame (read: sports), bookmarking features as well as other knick-knacks. The DIRECTV DVR monthly subscription will be $5.99, not including the cost of the hardware obviously. Not too shabby. Looks like TiVo better kick it up a notch.
