Toshiba Develops Prototype “World’s Smallest” Fuel Cell

PCWorld is reporting that Toshiba is releasing a fuel cell this year that is being billed as the “World’s Smallest,” an always-dubious claim, but undeniably appealing, as Toshiba’s .9 by 2.2 by .4 inch cell can produce 100 milliwatts of power over 20 hours with just two cubic centimeters of methanol. Oh, actually, as I read this again the small unit a prototype — it’s a notebook-class version they intend to release later in the year, which we sort of already knew about.
