Toshiba has cracked the 100GB barrier for laptop hard drives, with a 4,200 RPM 2.5-inch version it expects to begin selling later this year. The two-platter drive also has a higher shock resistance than Toshiba’s 80GB drive with a lower power consumption. Toshiba will soon start selling manufacturers samples for $1,096, although that price will drop as soon as they go into full production.
