Toshiba threw a little speculation into their CeBIT presentation with this ‘Wristwatch PDA,’ a wearable computer concept (read: one marketing intern and some rendered graphics). With a wide ‘hi-definition’ display, WiFi, and Bluetooth, the Wristwatch PDA would be really cool except for one thing: it isn’t cool at all. No one wants to wear a surfboard on their arm anymore; it seemed like a good idea in the ’90s, but we were all high on smart drugs and alphabetamines and wearing silver-foil shirts. Interestingly, PDALive catches the fact that the software on the mockup appears to be running PalmOS (Toshiba doesn’t make any Palm OS handhelds), which does nothing to hurt my intern theory.
