TRON Guy Forbidden From Wearing His Costume in a Movie Theater

Jay Maynard, better known as TRON Guy, intended on wearing his famous light-up costume to a showing of TRON: Legacy recently, but his local movie theater refused to admit him. What on earth do they have against awkward costumes?

Basically Maynard called a Minnesota theater in advance to let them know that he was going to wear his costume only to be told that he would not be allowed to watch the movie in it because it's "too distracting."

You would think that any theater would be happy to have TRON Guy show up. What is wrong with those people in Minnesota? [TMZ via Time]

you know who hates the tron guy? the original designer for all the original tron suits. i'd say that is saying something right there.

that being said... that's kind of a bummer. when i went to the spectrum imax in orange county, there were 3 people completely decked out - including a fully lit-up close to 100% authentic "quorra" with high-heel boots and everything. she turned her lights off when the movie started, so it wasn't a big deal.
