Squandering the once-proud Commodore name, Tulip, who acquired the name in 1997, has released two portable music players, the e-Vic, a 20GB hard drive-based player, and the m-Pet, a yet another flash drive music player. Unlike the original Vic-20, the e-Vic isn’t really that special, with a monochrome display, MP3 and WMA support, and a decent, if not amazing 10-15 playback time. The m-Pet, and the no-music f-Pets, are even less interesting. Wouldn’t it be nice if they’d just let all these fondly remembered brands die? Next thing you know some French gaming giant will acquire the rights to the Atari brand and smear it all over a bunch of middling quality videogame titles.
