This story on Lost Remote has a few choice quotes from ABC’s Digital Media Group, who are apparently embracing the idea of Personal Media (Video) Players with lust in their hearts:
“The broadband population has reached a tipping point,” he said. Gershon demonstrated ABC News Live, ABC’s 24-hour broadband news channel. And he played World News Tonight on his PMP. “This is going to be the iPod for video…. Give consumers something they’re passionate about, anywhere, anytime on any device.”
Since you asked, Personal Video Players will be popular, sure, but I don’t expect them to blow up in quite the same way MP3 and other music players have, if for no other reason that video necessitates a full stop, while music can be enjoyed while doing any other number of activities, like watching video.
