Verizon Offers Custom Ringback Tones

By

Reading time 1 minute

Just noticed a little while ago that Verizon is now offering custom musical ringbacks in test markets in California. In case you haven’t heard, ringbacks are what callers hear when they call you. Like a ringtone, but for the caller. I’ve been waiting for this for a while, thinking it’d be cool to have callers hear my own songs (If You Don’t Leave a Mesasge, I Will Eat Your Children comes particularly to mind), but alas you can only license existing songs from a list of some 2,200 choices, including selections from the BMG and Warner catalogs. To use the custom ringback service costs customers an additional $1 per month, and each song is $2 per year. A broader range of tunes will be available in the future, and the ringback service is supposed to be available for all Verizon customers by the middle of next year.
