We’ve seen some awesomely abstract Soviet science fiction cartoons before, including adaptations of the works of Ray Bradbury and Stephen King.

Here’s Pereval another short by Vladimir Tarasov, who also animated Robert Silverberg’s works. In Pereval, the survivors of a spaceship crash on an alien world must retrieve supplies from their downed vessel. The trip to the spacecraft isn’t an easy one, as the extraterrestrial landscape is filled with hostile beings, unearthly geometry, and classical music. Pretty weird, and weird and pretty.
