This ain’t no regular car model car because this speed model car can hit speeds of up to 204mph on the track. Watch it build up to that speed and just zip around and around until it starts smoking and becomes a total whir.
Fun fact: model car racing like this dates back to the ‘20s. The cars were about two feet long and ran on miniature two-stroke engines burning nitromethane fuel. Some of these cars cost upwards of $1,000 in today dollars.
The tracks were sometimes like that pictured in the video, called a “rail track”, or sometimes just flat tracks with the car tethered in the center. The second picture shows such a “cable track” in the ‘30s.
