Did you know H.R. Giger worked on two different Dune movies that never got made? Here’s his concept art for the Palace of Harkonnen, from the first version. Alejandro Jodorowsky’s version would have been 14 hours long and starred himself and his son, plus Salvador Dali. And then Ridley Scott was attached to direct in the early 80s and hired Giger again. Scott wanted to be the “John Ford of science fiction,” but quit Dune due to script problems. [Electronic Cerebrectomy]
