The X-Men have been battling across our movie screens for a decade and a half, but it’s been a while since we’ve heard talk of a live-action TV series. However, the mutants may finally be coming to the small screen in a new show.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox “is having preliminary conversations” about adapting the X-Men comics for television. And these talks apparently involve 24 producers Evan Katz and Manny Coto and writers Patrick McKay and JD Payne, who, according to THR, will be penning the script.

While many of us grew up on the multiple X-Men cartoon series, there was an attempt to bring some of the X-Men characters to television in 1996, when Fox aired the (baffling) made-for-TV movie Generation X to test the waters for a live-action show. Now, however, the TV landscape seems ripe for a live-action X-Men TV series, what with shows like Gotham, Arrow, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. dominating the primetime lineup. However, THR says that Marvel still has to sign off on the deal, so this show is far from a sure thing.
