What you’re peering at is a slice of the hundreds of millions of rods (left) and cones (right) inside your eyes’ retinas. The photo—the first of its kind—was taken borrowing imaging tactics from astronomy, allowing scientists to remove the glimmer from the eye, and could mean great things for eye medicine in the future.
