Although this year’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie only dealt with Shredder, it looks like some point a plethora of villains from the Turtles past were going to show up – including the loveably goofy henchmen Bebop and Rocksteady from the TMNT cartoon!

This concept art was shared by artist Tsvetomir Georgiev, who worked on conceptual art and design for the Michael Bay-produced movie. There’s a lot of interesting work here, especially the piece in the header above, featuring the delectably 90’s designs that were Bebop and Rocksteady, two bumbling henchmen of Shredder created for the Ninja Turtles animated series in the 90’s. Georgiev’s art also intriguingly includes a pretty fleshed out concept for the Turtles’ other well known villain, Krang, who could’ve been depicted as a towering robot housing the brain-like form of Krang himself:
Which honestly, if you’re going to go about making some of these classic TMNT designs look ‘realistic’ for a modern movie, is a pretty good way of going about it. But even amongst Georgiev’s more realistic designs, he also concepted a look for Shredder that would’ve been incredibly faithful to the character’s appearance in the cartoon:
Considerably less spikey-stabby than the Shredder we got in the film.
