Why Are You People Still Buying Pentium 4 Laptops?

Jesus, people, I don’t understand you sometimes. Intel has in the Pentium M one of the best processors they’ve designed in years and you all pass it over, choosing instead power-sucking Pentium 4s and giant desktop replacement laptops. Granted, the Pentium 4 is a lot cheaper—$400 less when comparing top-end-to-top-end—so maybe that’s the disconnect. I understand aiming for the absolute bleeding edge when you’re purchasing a machine meant for gaming, but when the Pentium M is beating out higher-clocked and more power-hungry Pentium 4s, what possible rationale can you have to go with anything but the as-fast (or faster!) chip with a longer battery life?

Of course, there is some merit to what CW is saying about Intel’s stupid megahertz dick measuring campaign over the last few years conditioning everyone to (naturally) think bigger numbers are better. But get with the program—you just can’t look at one number anymore.

Seriously, you’re all in big trouble. Go cut me a switch.
