This is pretty hot: TwistedMods has a HowTo that shows you the coolest way to void whatever warranty remains on your CRT monitor by adding a window and lights. They’re quick to note that this mod significantly reduces the ventilation capabilities and thus potentially the lifespan of your monitor, and suggest installing a few fans as well to make up the loss. Also, CRTs tend to have components in them that can hurt you, like wildly discharging capacitors, so be sure to unplug and use care if you choose to go through with this. Either way, it will definitely set you apart from the other modders at next month’s lan, but then, so will having a CRT in the first place.
