GearBits sets a not-so-lofty goal for Wireless Media Hubs (integrated Screen, MP3 and internet radio streaming, and 802.11g) and finds no device quite cuts the mustard. Some get awfully close, including Slim Devices’ Squeezebox, but the lack of 802.11g in all the devices (if they even have WiFi in the first place) makes the entire exercise a wash. While 802.11b is definitely good enough for streaming MP3s or internet radio, GearBits’ Craig Froehle makes a very reasonable point: if 802.11g is available now (and is far from cutting edge), why should he settle for less?
