While none of the Bond movie was actually filmed on the island, found just off Japan’s Nagasaki Peninsula, it’s certainly clear that the researchers spent some time there. Hashima, sometimes referred to as Gunkanjima (“Battleship Island”), was once home to 5,000 people—but was abandoned in 1974 when its coal industry failed.
