Can you tell the difference between a chatbot and a PhD thesis advisor? PHD Comics puts college professors to the Turing Test, and they fail hilariously.
In response to all the hubbub about the chatbot that “passed” the Turing Test, Jorge Cham of PHD Comics posted a comic reminding us that some human beings can’t even pass the Turing Test—namely thesis advisors talking to PhD candidates.

But that’s not all. Cham also created a Professor Turing Test. Just enter in a statement or question, and you will get a genuine vague professor response, submitted by the readers. Perhaps when Cham has collected enough of them, he can turn them into his very own professor chatbot.
