You won’t believe your eyes when you see these statues move

Incredibly, no special effects were used to create these visuals. The sculptures consist of thousands of layers of paper, arranged in a honeycomb-like lattice and pieced together with glue. Then, using a subtractive carving technique, Hongbo chips away with an electric saw to achieve the desired shapes.

Displaying this work has been a problem for Hongbo, but now, in collaboration with Eli Klein from Klein Sun Gallery, the sculptures have been presented in a spectacular way, thanks to these close-up shots filmed at 240 frames per second. Here’s an extended cut:
