ZVUE Personal Video Player

MobileMag asks some of the same questions I’ve had about the ZVUE, the pocket-sized personal video player that uses SD and MMC flash memory cards for storage. They come away with the logical conclusion: sure, it’s only $99, but once you add the DivX license and a large SD card (512MB is the maximum size the player supports, and the minimum size you’d want to consider), the ZVUE isn’t that great of a deal anymore.

Even if the battery life is better in the ZVUE, I’d still rather have a hard-drive based player that can store hours and hours of video, even if I already have some SD or MMC memory cards lying about. On the upside, when these things crash and burn, flash memory will be even cheaper, and I’ll be able to pick this little distraction for about what it should have cost in the first place.
