Half the reason we like the Eee PC is that mods to it just keep getting further out there. The latest, and greatest, is a touchscreen. Jkkmobile's 4G is loaded up with Windows XP, but not the tablet version, so it's admittedly more of an interesting way to browse the web and play around with your fingers than a certifiable productivity booster, but we think it's pretty cool anyway. AND, someone just bought a touchscreen. and someone else. oh, look... the world's supply of 7" screens is nearly depleted.
DAMN! I want an EEE PC even more after seeing that! Awesome mod.
Awesome. Nice price, for what you get.
sweet. Anyone know what XP mod he's using? is that windows blinds or something?
That's pretty cool.
@Rob C: I think it's a Zune theme - They are downloadable from several places...
you know, watching this video and seeing the size and form factor of that Eee REALLY makes me want one. Especially with how huge the mod scene is getting.
i would be completely sold if the LCD actually took up the entire top half of the laptop... i know this is for price savings but I would shell out another $50 or so for that...
wow, that's awesome. makes me want to get one and start modding!
that really looks like windows vista to me.
Hey... I want to do that. What the heck screen did he use? He said A 7" car screen... does that mean a navigation screen??? Anyone know which one?
I'll wait until someone mods the LCD to swivel and lock into place like a tablet.
I have a 7" lilliput touchscreen that I intended for CarPuter use. Maybe that's it?
wow, this is making my apple hardware preference trail, then again, it's os x that i love, not the machine.
eee pc + touch screen + apple os = ?

it's not a complete screen replacement just an overlay to allow for touch input
[www.digitalww.com]
can probably find them on ebay for $50 - $100
Please, someone post a how-to!
@theheff:
same here. i hope the next gen has a screen that isn't bordered by plastic. then they'll have my $$$
I would really like the to see if a 9 or 10 inch touch screen could be made to fit with a reasonable amount of effort.
Outsatnding job, I am looking forward to the other widgets he was showing at the end.
How's about keep the 7 inch screen. Cut the borders off, get rid of the mouse pad, and the extra 2 inches on the base?
Why would I need a 8525? This thing would be almost the same size. Cram a CDMA and GSM radio in, bingo, you would own the Smartphone market, and OqO for that matter.
@karnak:
or you could buy a Jornada 728 for half the price.
there are tons of mods including this guys future mods on eeeuser.com
i've been waiting for something like this to try my first soldering mod. i may just order that touch screen today. i've never soldered on a PCB before so i'm a bit scared to brick the eee. luckily i have a money tree in my back yard.
For anyone still wondering you can download the zune theme here
[www.google.com]
@hanspecans: I don't have a money tree, but I suppose I could practise on one of the Eee's I gave to my 2 sons first: "Son, how would you like a touchscreen mod on your Eee?" "MOM, dad's trying to fix stuff again" "Fine, never mind. Here's 20 bucks to bring me your brother's Eee."....
@OLDSCHOOLGADGETLOVER
i would assume so since i used one in my old carputer adventure.. lilliputs are sweet screens! there were tons of mods w/them in carputers and mini-itx based pc mods..
peace
Ok, I have a blinged to death PowerBook, but in reality I need the Eee to do missions to keep my 3 Garmin GPS units up to date, the Blackberry, the pocket Asus A730 and such.
Process images from the camera, and anything else is a Plus. I'm Ready!
