LG Rumor Rumor Confirmed: Firmware Update Now Available

Sprint_LG_Rumor_crop.jpgMaybe Sprint wasn't pulling inventory, but the rumors about the LG Rumor's shoddy firmware turn out to be, well, rooted in truth. Now you or your Rumor-owning loved ones can get a fast free upgrade: Either go Main Menu > Settings/Tools > Tools> Update Firmware, or get your sorry butt to a Sprint store and go to the back of the customer-service line. Message from Sprint: "While we have confidence in the quality of this device, we do encourage Rumor users to take advantage of this simple over-the-air upgrade." [Sprint]

  • If you do a firmware update OTA, won't they charge you for a ridiculous amount of data? (unless you have a data plan.)

That must be why Sprint encourages it.

  • @Reiji: Sprint doesn't cxharge for OTA updates. They charge for anything else using a data connection however. Pictures/MMS, internet, games, etc. OTA updates are not included in the charges, neither are PRL updates.

  • Reiji, The Sprint OTA updates utilize a factory installed profile for the data session so that there is no billing cost for data usage (other than possibly airtime).
