The father of an 18-month-old child is off to jail for four years after being found guilty of using a stun gun on the boy. His reason for using the 100,000-volt Dragonfire, which resulted in muscle damage to the kid's heart, was because he wanted his son to be "the toughest cage fighter ever." Yeah, the toughest heart-damaged, cage-fighting 18-month-old ever.
According to the Deputy DA in Portland, Ryan Wittman had made comments to witnesses saying he wanted his child "to be tough." When first questioned, the dad's genius response was to say that the two of them had been "playing peekaboo." Hmm, that'll be the special version of kilovolt peekaboo we've never heard of, then.
The 100,000-volt weapon Wittman used is, apparently, more powerful than police tasers. Wittman's excuse for the incidents? Arguments with his wife. It took just 20 minutes for the court to decide that Wittman should be sent down for four years. [CNN]

training to be a cage fighter...at 18 months?
Wow... this guys a douche. Have fun getting tazered in the ass in prison, after people figure out what your in for.
I don't know that tasering anyone would make them a better cage fighter.
Don't tase me pa!
Last time I checked they don't allow tasers in cage fighting matches...althought that would add a bit more excitement... that and snapping towels on each others butts...
They should tazer his balls every hour on the hour for the duration of 15 minutes while he's in jail the next 4 years. I hope he gets anal penetrated by all the guys on his cellblock.
Man, an 18 month old that's a little baby what a jerk.
TAZER HIS BALLS !!!!!!!!!
I can't really think of anything to say other than it should have been more than 4 years jail. He will probably be out in 2.
How much you want to bet this happened in a trailer park? any takers?
What a douchebag. What an asshole. He just wrecked a kid's life.
Let's hope the kid turns more mentally stable than this asshole. Just to make sure he doesn't make more children though, castrate the dad with rusty knives.
Damaged his son's heart? Seems that 4 years is about 6-16 years too short, IMHO.
Lets get down the business! To defeat the huns!
....Oh my bad wrong thread.
Poor Kip, Jr. LaFawnduh should have known better.
...and the other prisoners have somthin' to toughen up daddy...
What a complete dickhead. Someone should taser his brain, the volts might kick it in to gear so he knows what hes doing. 4 years is not enough.
HE should be tazered + get put behind bars if you ask me? :E
You have to have a license to get a dog, yet any a$$hole can have a kid. Does that scenario seem wrong to anyone else?
@Curves: It does to me - you shouldn't need a license to get a dog.
Gravel for President!
The fact he tasered the poor kid is enough but the reason why is just F*%cked up. Good thing he did't want the kid to grow up and be a fire eater. ASSHOLE!!!
4 years in jail doesn't seem long enough to me. However, considering what he's in for, it's probably gonna be a LONG 4 years.
There is no penalty that could EVER feel like justice here. Twenty years in prison? Not enough for this waste of flesh. Being penetrated so deeply HIS heart muscles are damaged? Nah, just not bad enough. I hope that this poor baby has the opportunity to be placed in a home that loves him and has the resources to heal all of his wounds. Daily, I just shake my head.
police missed the vat of toxic chemicals...the cage fighting baby is the cover story. he was really trying to make his own electric super villan.
Yeah this guy's a douche.
But hey, maybe he'll be pardoned by the Bush Administration and sent off to Abu Ghraib to refine his psychopathic-skills in torture.
What's that? It was a state offense? Pardoned by the governor?! Who's a democrat?!! Oh, sucks for you after all, dumbass...
@killer_stone: Comment of the year, calling it now.
Now he can find out how good of a cage fighter he'll be when he says "no" to his cell mate.
Sure you guys are coming down hard on the father now, but when the kid grows up and takes the World Cage Fighting championship belt from Tazey McTaserstein (who just so happens to have the natural ability to generate 100,000 volts from his fingertips) we'll see who gets the last laugh.
this is a shocking story.
@neoqueenx:
WTF? dude! that was "word for word" what i was thinking!!.that's just freaky...
wtf!? What channel is the 18-month-old cage fighting? That sounds way more badass than UFC or any of that "grown-up" sissy fighting.
What did Einstein write at the bottom of the chalkboard after he discovered his most famous equation?
"Don't Erase Me, Bro"
"DONT TAZ ME BRO..... uh DAD!"
Aside from the 100,000 volt tazer mentioned, what qualifies this for a Giz post? Sounds more like something I'd see on the 6 o'clock news that I never watch because it's too damn depressing.
Yeah, sure, this guy did heart damage to his child by tazing him, which is awful.
So why do we assume that police doing this is:
1. okay?
2. harmless?
He was an ordinary toddler, from an ordinary town. But his dreams would take him further than any cage fighter. ever.
"I'm not like you Dad! I'm not gonna spend my days coloring and hanging out in the sandbox, and then working 9 to 5 for the man. I'm gonna be somebody. I'm gonna be a cage fighter!"
"But you are only 18 months old."
"Oh, you're right".
"The Littlest Cage Fighter" tonight at eight on ABC Family.
please Please PLEASE take this man's child away from him when he gets out. Put HIM on a national registry.
Maybe he meant "Crib Fighting".
Dana White is gonna run with this I know it!
I can't get thru this story w/out MC Hammer coming to mind for some reason.
Too bad for the kid though. Why didn't his dad just name him Sue?
Nice way to ruin a kid's childhood and scar him for life.
4 years in the can it's too light if you ask me.
@chaboud: Because
a) they have more stringent requirements for them using tasers and there's hell to pay if they abuse them (theoretically)
b) they don't tase 18 month olds
c) they use a lower voltage
Not to say that there aren't cops with access to tasers who are rocking the same mental capacity as this sperm donor, but there you have it.
@beyondthetech2007: That's what happens when you try to meet your soul-mate on the internets...
@Luuey:
In a "RED" state.
Kilovolt Peekaboo?
Yeah, I saw them play in a club in Chicago... that was before they got famous...
@Curves: I believe the quote is: "You need a license to own a dog, you need a license to drive, heck you need a license to fish, but they'll let any butt-reaming asshole be a father"
Loved that movie.
I'm plan on raising tough chil'drins as well, but I'm gonna go with the quality time, spiritual/intellectual pursuits with outdoor activities and weight lifting combo route (the girls too...). There's just something about abusing a child and then turning him into an efficient fighting/killing machine that strikes me as, well...idiotic and ultimately *self* destructive (not to mention neddlessly cruel)...just when I'm getting decrepit he'll be reaching his prime...asinine I tell you...
As far as tazers and cops...the majority of the time a taser shot is much less destructive to an adult than a billy club or nightstick upside the head, or a few rounds of 9mm, .40, .357, or .45ACP to the chest or head would be. It also allows the cops to maintain about a 3 - 10 foot distance from a potentially dangerous individual, which is safer than getting within arms reach of a possibly armed and/or deranged assailant. Sure there's a potential for abuse or over-use, but I think it's nice that there's one more hedge for cops before they have to resort to lethal force.
@Brian B: There was a movie?
@chaboud: Because it's a better alternative to a suspect getting shot to death.
@Curves: Yes, Parenthood. I highly recommend it.
Sick world.
"He used to just put a belt, a stick, and a wrench on the kitchen table and say, 'Choose.' I used to go with the wrench. Cuz fuck him.
This guy is an idiot. Everyone know you don't start this kind of pain desensitization conditioning until four years old at the earliest. I mean come on, at 18 months he should have been concentrating on developing the child's killer instinct by making him fight for his food. It's just common sense.
Thats just sick.
I think this guy watched 300 too often. I propose that his last moment on earth involve having battery acid funneled down his throat.
Hey got only 4 years for tazering a 18 month old baby?! WTF?!?!?! That mother fucker needs the death penalty.
Perhaps getting sent to jail leaving the kid to fend for himself was supposed to be the "toughening up" part.
4 years isn't nearly enough. Unless they're gonna put him in a psych ward the whole time. That's some bullshit.
He could have killed the boy. I would not be opposed to having him fixed unless he passes some serious psyc evaluations after he gets out.
