Hey, more good news on the snowboarding reader meetup beta. The day: April 5th. The place: Alpine Meadows. The Time: 9AM, upstairs in the main lodge cafeteria or something Nokia is coming with a fleet of N95s we can use, and Vudu and JBL are donating a prizes to give away, as are a few others who aren't locked down yet. If you want to come, please drop me an email. I'll show you my non-360 where I act my age and smash my hip on the hard pack. Making raspberries on your muffin top, it's an Art.

Can I bring my hood from a '68 Beetle?
Nothing says winter fun like projectilized auto parts!
I'll never figure out why you mainland types actually choose this sort of weather.
I'll be there. And since its Alpine, if you smash your hip, I can help load you in the toboggan and haul you down the hill.
360 grab to unconscious to stretcher to hopsital bed fakie. can't stop. won't stop.
@matto:
Because out here on the west coast we get tired of having a perfect climate - and snowboarding is unlike anything else in the world. It's like having sex with mother nature.
You see, you have to have sex with Mother Nature before Father Time catches you, otherwise you risk running afoul of Uncle Death.
@nutbastard: "Out here on the west coast"? So....us people in Wisconsin must REALLY love to change up the weather a bit huh?
@faabshaam:
I don't follow.
@nutbastard: You were saying you tire f having a perfect climate. We NEVER seem to have a perfect climate, therefor we must just really like to change up the weather..... It made more sense in my head... stupid head of mine....
@nutbastard: hilarious.
Seriously BLAM, how long have you been skiing? Weeks?
Hey raspberry Muffin tops or raspberry hips or raspberry facials (HA! I said facials...)
Ok, train of thought derailed.
Dammit.
Now I want an actual raspberry muffin. No clue where I was going with that but I'm hungry now.
@faabshaam:
EPIC FAIL
@Out2gtcha:
Yeah you should seek sustenance, it seems your glucose levels have dropped by a factor of two or three levels of irrelevance...
@faabshaam: I knew exactly what you meant, locked in snow bound Ohio, I feel your pain.
I think REI sells day tickets to Alpine Meadows for $39.
@nutbastard: I'm here in SF and the weather sucks. Color me confused!
@nutbastard:
Hey I'm a level 10 digression master.
My irrelevance level is always high regardless of my lack of nutrition.
@matto:
Oh yeah, i forgot about SF, the armpit of California.
Dude only 40 miles south of you it's beautiful outside.
Haw-Ha!
/nelson
I might have made it if I didn't just get back from Buffalo and wasn't getting ready for Vegas. Maybe next year
I see your crappy East Coast snowboarding and raise you my picturesque Colorado mountains.... get out here you wusses.
What a bummer, gotta work.
Since I work ER front desk at the hospital in Truckee, I could see a few of you there.
Alpine rocks, especially the trauma park, oops, terrain park. Huck one for me. Remember, you don't get hurt in the air...
@nutbastard: Try being in Potsdam, NY. We're in shorts if it's above 35 and some crazys are in shorts at 15. Seriously, it's cold.
I'll go if I can hitch a ride with someone (I'm in SF), and if I don't have to work :(
Damnit, damnit, damnit! MSF Dirtbike school that same weekend. You kids have a good time.
@anti-hello-kitty:
i already told you, i can pick you up, but you're going to have to get out of the city on your own, I am NOT going into SF if i don't have to, and since i'd be doing you a favor... I don't have to : )
@nutbastard: Yo, people, if you email me, I will put you on a distro. We can talk carpools then.
@Brian Lam: and that means that there is a chance of carpooling? Yay!
Ok people:
You can ride with me but recognize that i smoke cigarettes like a fucking feind, and i just realized i haven't come up with a good way to stuff multiple snowboards into my 2 door civic, so it might be best if i only have 2 passengers. Oh yeah and theres no stereo in my car, but i do have an inverter with a USB port for iPod charging and a 110 outlet for whatever else, maybe i'll jerry-rig my computer speakers into this bitch for the trip.
@nutbastard: wow, hope you have fun!
@Amiash:
from anyone else i'd assume you were being snide.
but you're just a big sweetheart so i won't even bother you with the implications that would follow if your comment was meant to be rude...
@nutbastard: let me get this straight. You have a segway, but you don't have a car stereo? I know the two are mutually exclusive, but how does one spend that much money on a gadget, and not have the $300 to put a radio in a car?
You sir, are an enigma wrapped in a question with a crispy coating of confusing on top.
@matto: It might be that we like the sport, as opposed to the weather, though in my case, I love snow.
Having lived in Hawai'i, I can say that never having to check the weather channel got boring. Give me good old South Dakota, where the temperature changed 62°F, from 49°F at 6:00 A.M. to -13°F at 8:00 A.M. That is what I call exciting.

I completely wish that I could make the trip out, as I would love to hang with some other gadget freaks, and I hate to pass up a chance to board. Hope you all have fun.
@nutbastard: I wasnt being rude
@zenpoet:
"let me get this straight. You have a segway"
no, i don't own one, i just borrow one from the Woz when we play polo.
@Amiash:
I know, silly!
Anyone want to head up on the 4th and split the cost of a motel room? i don't revel in getting up at the crack of bullshit to drive a-muscle-stiffness-inducing 4 hours before snowboarding.
@nutbastard:
"You see, you have to have sex with Mother Nature before Father Time catches you, otherwise you risk running afoul of Uncle Death. " OK allready, you win. nutbastard IS fitting.
So cool that you guys are coming up!!! We got free wifi and great mobile coverage in the lodge. And we TOTALLY want that Nokia n95 thingy so we can post vid and photos to flickr from the Summit 6 and tweet about the all the sweet pow!
Please keep us up on your plans: [skialpine.com]
