A hands on with the new Linux-based MING A1800 from Motorola by the guys at Boy Genius Report has revealed some interesting information. For example, the phone features CDMA, quad-band GSM and dual SIM card slots along with Bluetooth and a 3 megapixel camera. They also claim that the phone felt "sturdy as a rock" despite its diminutive size. There isn't any pricing information yet, but BGR expects to learn more at CTIA next week. [BGR via Unwired View]

I had a Ming for about 2 years - it was about a year before it
started to act up... I had to replace the body (with one of those
cheap knock-off housings they sell on fleabay) because the stylus
wouldn't stay in. Then the touchscreen started becoming inaccurate
and I had to squeeze on it to get it to kinda work right. It made
typing text messages very difficult. I ended up buying the e6 rokr
because I like the software on these, but I really had my heart set
on the e7 that has phantomized. The rokr is a lot more sturdy.
I'm hoping Motorola pulls themselves up by their bootstraps. I have a
feeling this bleeding money thing will get tightened up before the
company goes under. I'm optimistic about a second coming for them... the fact that they released an update to the Ming certainly helps. I think I might have to buy it.
Ming? Merciless...
you just wrote a whole paragraph about how (to me at least) your last ming was a POS and broke after a year. Now you want to buy another?
Beam me up, Scotty.
@redkamel: Yes... yes I do.
anyone know if there are any decent dual sim phones out right now?
Now only if they'd put the work like this into there os &ui i may buy a Motorola again.
Why cant they're decent looking phones ever have gsm, cdma & dual sim
@utube2007: If you've seen the MING/E6 OS you wouldn't be saying that. It's linux, full of features, and completely customizable. Now that the ROKR E6 is getting so cheap i'm prolly gonna pick one up myself.
Had Moto put it's linux OSs on more phones it might actually be turning a profit today.
We might see the next Gen Ming on Buck Rodgers . . .or was that Duck Dodgers? hmmmm.
MINGe....
hehehehe
