If there's a more illustrious sport to come out of Germany this year than office chair racing, I'd like to see it. The first ever German Championships in Office Chair Racing took place on Saturday in Bad Koenig-Zell, and it consisted of 70 people riding their office chairs down a 560-foot course without breaking their chair or themselves. The real tricks looked to be surviving the initial ramp and the second ramp further down the course that were designed to throw people off. Those crazy Germans! [Reuters]

Where's the Ben Hur chair with spiked wheels?
I was really rooting for that bunny...
The course is too flat; it would be more fun and interesting with more incline. I hope they don't require pink bunny costumes for everyone.
What a tepid offering.
Where's the hill capable of accelerating these things to something more than a pace that can be quickened by kicking?
Where's the bloodshed?
Where's the love?

I missed the part where it got dangerous. Street luge without closing the road, now that's dangerous.
Meh. If your wheels don't fall off, you can still go faster.
This is how it starts. And next thing you know you've got some hotshot copyboy in your office who's the next Shawn White of Downhill Office Chairing putting everyone to shame in the 2020 X-games.
I woke up for this ?
@DeCerbo: Eh, I'd watch it. I've always wanted to see someone kickflip a desk chair. :)
I wish my Grandfather was alive to see this.
I can only imagine what he'd not have to say.
I must say that the course was a bit flat. I've been through a few office chairs and I gotta say some of them are built very nicely to gain some speed. Gotta love them germans!
needs more grade. boo.
I get more speed in my home office than that.
Look up "Manayunk suicide" and "Manayunk downhill" on YouTube to see what this, sadly, is not.
Are you kidding, Fruch? Have you never seen San Francisco's own Annual Bring Your Own Bigwheel race? It totally trumps anything this can offer. Picture 200 racers on bigwheels, trash cans, trikes, and what-have-you, plus over 1000 spectators. Now that's a sport.
@drewdrawsYOU!: I HATED riding my bike around Manayunk. I flipped my bike going downhill on two separate occasions, having to avoid getting hit by a car cowing out of a side street. That and having to go up all those hills.
my goodness, that's boring.
ok... stop being geeky....
none of u guys have seen Jackass?
