Creepshow is back from the dead. Though Shudder officially canceled the horror anthology series (which was inspired by the 1982 Stephen King and George A. Romero anthology film of the same name) in September 2025, that wasn’t actually the end for the franchise. Creepshow will live on in a new video game—and it’s scheduled for release in just two months.

Developed by PHL Games and published by DreadXP, Creepshow is a story-rich point-and-click adventure game for PC featuring “one overarching narrative, with two additional self-contained stories.” The game’s Steam page, which is now live, lists the release window as August 2026. There’s also a short preview trailer to go along with the announcement.

The official description of the game reads:

In the mood for a story? The Creep has picked these out just for you…

Creepshow is a collection of twisted, self-contained tales where the humor is dark, and the endings are… not what you expected. Each story drops you into a nightmare with new characters, new horrors, and a fate that you won’t see coming.

Follow Danny and his friends as a bad day at the mall turns into something much, much worse.

Their search for the truth of what happened to Danny’s father turns dark as they uncover sinister secrets.

Fate brings Danny to The Reader, a mysterious fortune-teller, who has a taste for treacherous tales.

Expect pulp-inspired visuals, a tone that plays up the camp without losing its wit, and endings that hit hard. The horror here isn’t just trying to scare you… It’s about enjoying the whole thing a little too much.

In a press release (via Dread Central), Patrick Ewald, founder and CEO of DreadXP, said, “Getting to publish the iconic Creepshow brand as a game has been a creative dream we don’t want to wake up from, and we think it’s going to pull a whole new audience into the Creep’s tent. The teams at AMC, PHL, and DreadXP have put a lot of work in to create something that genuinely feels like you are living (or dying) inside a Creepshow episode, and we can’t wait for fans, old and new, to play it.”

The Creepshow video game was first announced in 2022, but since then, there’s been basically no new information on it, so today’s drop has been a welcome surprise. And in just two months, you’ll finally be able to play it, too.
