Exposed cables can be downright hideous or damn near artistic depending on the situation. Apparently, when South Korean designer Kwangho Lee sees a mess of tangled wires, he thinks "art." The concept behind these "lamp sculptures" was to strip lights down to the bare essentials and weave the exposed cable into intricate designs. Whether the final result can be considered art is a matter of opinion—but I can tell you that I won't be hanging one of these in my apartment anytime soon. [MoCo Loco via Gearfuse]

Still ugly. That looks horrible
Ugly-er
Fire Hazard Chic.
Will fit well with my "couch" made out of dirty laundry and my kitchen "table" made out of cracked china and pizza boxes.
NOOOOO!!! THERES NO ESCAPING THE TANGLED WIRES!! THEY'RE EVERYWHERE!!
Nope, still ugly.
I have a hard enough time not tripping over my charger for my laptop...i don't need this thing to come loose one day and someone finds me dead in 30 pounds of colorful wire!
How many extension cords have I thrown out or cut in frustration? I was sitting on a gold mine!
Can I swing on it?
I guess he lives in Hazard County.
FIRE Hazard County!
Hyuck hyuck hyuck

um... sound guy here...and I would go totally nuts trying to untangle this piece...I can't stand cords that aren't straightened out...Hideous...
@92BuickLeSabre: What, no spool?
This scared me for a bit. The first picture looks like one of those sentinels from The Matrix.
Just don't trip near it..
Damn you Giz!
I had almost fully repressed the awful memories of the last major network upgrade I did... but this, this, thing... it brings them all back...
The miles of CAT5E, the dozens of Fiber links, the week spent in crawlspaces that had not been seen by human eyes in decades...
The horror, the horror....
I would actually enjoy that blue mess above my dining room table.
For some reason this reminds me of The Grudge... only this is scarier.
Ugly²?
@TonyTriple:
Indeed. Many people don't realize that when you bunch up long lengths of electrical cable and run power through it, it tends to generate a lot of heat. A _lot_ of heat. As in, if you coil up a 25' extension cord in a box and use it to power something with a moderate draw, you won't want to carry that extension cord around until it has a chance to cool off. Knots and woven designs are even worse than a simple coil. Now, if this is made with thick-gauge electrical cable, and it's only running a single 60-watt bulb, it probably won't even get as hot as the bulb will, but figure you're going to be sucking a minimum of 200 watts to power that 60-watt bulb. Or, to put it another way, if you go out and buy those energy-efficient CFLs, they'll probably use as much energy plugged into this as if they'd been standard incandescents in a standard fixture, only now you just paid $5 for a single light-bulb.
still hella ugly
Business Idea: Tangled-up garden hose, hose bibs! Think of the impressive statement that would make to those discerning guests with an eye and appreciation for the finer things in life in visiting your beautiful designer landscape. And for only $2,000 each, delivered and sculpted by one of the world's greatest improvisational sculptors- right before your eyes!! Each one positively unique. Three for only $5,000. Now, now, form a line please.
Stupid and ugly. And wastefull. He should be crapped on and sent away.
Well, I don't know, somehow they strike a chord with me....
I think a cord Hammock would've been a better product for this knotty person to make... Knotty get it? Cuz it's wires that are like tangled and knotted together and... ok I'm done now.
@Git Em SteveDave: Who do you think I am? Richy McRicherton from RichyO'MoneyBanks Road, Apt $$ in RichityRichville?
Blue String Soup

Still fugly.
approval
@Purple Dave: My thoughts exactly. If he's pushing current through all of that he's wasting alot of power.
One of them looks like a noose. Suicidal tendencies perhaps?
@Gann: I wouldn't say the power is being outright wasted, the dissipated heat will still contribute to the overall warmth of the house. Ugly as sin though, tangled cables hanging all over the house would set me off.
Looks like something that would be hanging in Buffalo Bill's dungeon.
No, it isn't just a matter of opinion. That isn't art. It is stupid. It is fugly. It is NOT art.
Waste of copper. But you might be able to hang yourself if it came to it. Convenience factor there.
Art can be ugly. I have no idea if that crap is art or not, but it's several orders of magnitude past fugly.
Please tell me this person is not using an ancient incandescent bulb to display his piece of "techno-art."
@berribrand: He's a starving artist. He can't afford those expensive swirly bulbs.
@hooked-on-tronics:
Yeah, try to figure out a nice way to explain that to someone who has no AC in the dog days of summer.
