What better way for Toshiba to demonstrate that their Dynabook Qosmio T851/D8CR laptop can show 3D media in parts of the screen, by showing a dog leaping out of only half the screen?
Both 2D and 3D images can appear at once in various sections of the screen, depending on what content you’re viewing at the time—though Toshiba frustratingly hasn’t stated exactly what 2D/3D content is out there.
When watching something in 2D, the resolution will be 1080p, but when in 3D it’ll be 1,366 x 768 res. The laptop screen itself measures 15.6-inches, and inside it’s running on an Intel Core i5 chip at 2.3GHz. There’s 8GB of RAM, and a Blu-ray drive to burn media onto once you’ve exceeded the 750GB HDD storage.
Unfortunately it’s only been given a Japanese release so far, where it’ll cost around $2,780 from July. Like with Toshiba’s first glassesless 3DTVs, that’s quite a bit of money for a huge novelty. I wonder if the laptop will sell any better than the tellies did? Or didn’t, as is the case. [Toshiba via CrunchGear]
