I am from California. Now I live in New York. It’s great, but I still miss California. A lot. As such, songs like Delta Spirit’s latest single make me a little homesick.
“California” is the first single from their upcoming self-titled album, and not wanting to be pegged as an “Americana” band, the San Diego quintet aimed to flip their style up from the previous two albums. All I can think of when I listen to this is springtime. It’s bright, full of energy, and oddly optimistic for a song dealing with the end of a relationship. And their willingness to play around with synthesizers this time around really suits them well. I can’t wait to hear more.
