Experiemental and math rock can be a little tough to get into. The rhymthms are impressively complex and intricate, but a lot of times you just can’t groove to them. Enter “Atlas” by Battles. It’s groovetastic.

Off their 2007 debut Mirrors “Atlas” was Battles’ lead single with an addictively primal beat, crazy instrumentation, and some seriously, seriously bizarre vocals. The album version clocks in at seven minutes, with some vamping you might consider to be “excessive,” but the music video provides a great abridged version, and it’s also just amazing to watch.

So sit back, spend a good four minutes rocking back and forth, and try to decipher those lyrics. “People won’t be evil if they eat a sandwich”? What? [iTunes, Amazon, Spotify]
