In perhaps the best use of the White House’s official “We the People” petition system (the most ridiculous would still be Texas’ secession), a group of faceless signatures want the US to secure funding and resources in order to begin construction on a Death Star by 2016. Yes, a Death Star.

The real question is, what in the hell took so long? Why were we bothering with killing SOPA when we could have spent our time trying to get a FREAKING DEATH STAR for America?! The petition says:

Those who sign here petition the United States government to secure funding and resources, and begin construction on a Death Star by 2016.

By focusing our defense resources into a space-superiority platform and weapon system such as a Death Star, the government can spur job creation in the fields of construction, engineering, space exploration, and more, and strengthen our national defense.

Disappointingly, the petition only has over a thousand signatures at the moment. It’ll need a lot more than that to ever reach Obama’s desk. And a lot more than that to ever get the project rolling. [White House via
