Of Course There's an Official White House Petition That Wants the US to Build a Death Star By 2016

In perhaps the best use of the White House's official "We the People" petition system (the most ridiculous would still be Texas' secession), a group of faceless signatures want the US to secure funding and resources in order to begin construction on a Death Star by 2016. Yes, a Death Star.

The real question is, what in the hell took so long? Why were we bothering with killing SOPA when we could have spent our time trying to get a FREAKING DEATH STAR for America?! The petition says:

Those who sign here petition the United States government to secure funding and resources, and begin construction on a Death Star by 2016.

By focusing our defense resources into a space-superiority platform and weapon system such as a Death Star, the government can spur job creation in the fields of construction, engineering, space exploration, and more, and strengthen our national defense.

Disappointingly, the petition only has over a thousand signatures at the moment. It'll need a lot more than that to ever reach Obama's desk. And a lot more than that to ever get the project rolling. [White House via

Taking note of the responses so far, even well over the mark, the white house has no obligation to respond to any petition no matter how reasonable or unreasonable. Even when they do decide to respond to a petition its a half assed 'well we would like to appease the people but those damn rebels keep getting in our way.

And Secession isn't a totally insane idea (aint gonna ever happen), this is the United 'States' (look that word up) of America, not the United State of America.
