Lovely Pastel Furniture That Looks Like Aerogel

As Salone del Mobile wrapped up in Milan last week, plenty of attendees commented that the best stuff at the show was found on the fringes—the Salone’s proverbial seedy underbelly, if you will. Here’s a prime example: Haze, a series by Korean designer Wonmin Park, which was apparently on view in a basement under one exhibition space.

Seoul-born Park, who runs his own studio in the Netherlands, works mainly with resin—toxic, viscous stuff that’s super durable and easy to mold. Resin is completely ubiquitous, but it’s usually cast crystal clear or completely opaque, not the ethereal translucent hues Wonmin works with. The four tables look eerily light, as though they were made from slabs of aerogel (another comparison? Wagashi).

The pieces are all for sale on Park’s website, though prices are conspicuously absent. If you can’t afford ’em, you could also try experimenting with resin casting on your own (wear a mask!). [It’s Nice That]
